Mission

To promote understanding and acceptance of all persons with disabilities by:

• Assisting schools and communities in providing appropriate services and opportunities;
  
• Empowering individuals to develop their full potential; and
  
• Encouraging integration in all areas of community life.

Organization

The Madison County Transition Planning Committee (TPC) is an informal organization. It has no relationship with the government of the county of Madison, state of Illinois.

This, the longest-standing TPC in the state, is governed by the guidelines of the Illinois Department of Human Services and it operates under the Department's guidance.

Membership

Madison County TPC draws members from all over this county. Its membership includes persons with disabilities, their family members, school personnel, work experience coordinators, and adult service providers.

My Role

I am Chairperson of the committee. Also, there is a Co-Chair, Lisa Beciocchi (email: lbiciocchi@ecusd7.org). As Chairperson, it is my responsibility to:

• Determine the meeting schedule for the year;
• Secure a time and place to meet;
• Prepare an agenda for each monthly meeting;
• Facilitate monthly meetings; and
• Perform other duties as needed.
